- What ages are the students you work with?
Infinity Wellness Foundation’s WellKIDS® program is primarily delivered in elementary schools, though we have worked with students from the first to twelfth grade. Our experience is with a wide range of youth, but our target audience is third through fifth grade.
- How can I sign my school up?
If you are a principal, after-school coordinator, school administrator, school nurse, PE instructor, or parent you can email info@infinitywellness.org to bring WellKIDS® to students in your school.
- How many students have you served?
At the end of 2011, Infinity Wellness Foundation has been fortunate enough to work with over 2,000 DC elementary school students – focused on disadvantaged schools. During the Spring semester in 2012 we are working in eight schools with 250 students.
- What do you mean by TOTAL Wellness?
We are no longer only working with the student body, but their mind and spirit. TOTAL Wellness is a comprehensive educational experience through the five-part WellKIDS® Model:
-nutrition,
-mind/body,
-strength training,
-aerobic training, and
-flexibility.
We believe that it is through these five components that we can help the TOTAL student. Our goal is to teach lifestyle skills for students to learn how to become a more active and healthy person now and in the future.
- What schools have you served in the District?
We began working in District schools in 2009 and have worked in the following schools:

-Bancroft Elementary School
-CentroNia
-City Collegiate Public Charter School
-HD Cooke Elementary School

- Who are the WellKIDS® Coaches?
Our WellKIDS® Coaches are the key to our success and drive our program. The Coaches are highly motivated and trained local health and fitness professionals dedicated to reducing childhood obesity in DC Public Schools. It is through their passion and knowledge that future generations have role models for living a healthy and active life. We applaud our WellKIDS® Coaches for taking their profession into the community!
- How are IWF programs different from other youth programs?
There are many great youth programs happening across the nation. WellKIDS® is unique because of the two distinctive factors:
-Total Wellness – our program includes a comprehensive health and fitness experience for our students through nutrition, mind/body, strength training, aerobic training, and flexibility.
-WellKIDS Coaches – local fitness and health professionals are delivering our program and working with our inner city youth. Our coaches have a wide background from personal training, nutrition, yoga instructors, dance teachers, sports coaches, and graduate school students.
- How does IWF develop its curriculum?
We work closely with fitness, nutrition, mind/body, life coaching, wellness and academic experts to define our learning objectives, create our lesson plans, and design a complete curriculum for our WellKIDS® Coaches to deliver.
- How do you define success working with a student?
A smile. A well-earned bead of sweat. More specifically we look to impact our students from the beginning to the end of a program. We test our student’s outcomes through an ongoing survey process looking at a student’s attitude, behavior, and knowledge and their fitness performance and biometric evaluation.
- Do you work outside of the District?
Selectively we work with schools, organizations, community centers, and institutions outside of the District. We have strategically planned to expand outside of the District starting in Fall 2012.
- Do you work with parents and teachers?
Yes! To effectively change the life of a child through health and fitness, we must engage and impact their social support system. To reach parents and teachers, Infinity Wellness Foundation has created programs specifically geared towards these influential adults. We conduct programs within schools for teachers and parents. For teachers we developed Take 2 In The Classroom.
